Mel - Logan QLD

by Chloe Wigg 2025, acrylic, resin, acetate and ink on wood 30.5cm x 30.5cm x 5cm

I have generalised Myasthenia Gravis, and I was
diagnosed at 44. I have 2 small children and am
a single parent.
My greatest challenge is the bad days. The bad
days which there are so many varieties of them,
your body feels like a prison!
The crippling fatigue and the daily fight to
overcome obstacles with the muscle weakness!
Not being able to plan or dream as you never
know how your body will react from day to day.
The fear of never having a future.
Definitely the grief felt from loss of self and
parenting successfully is a huge challenge! Also
fighting the system to gain access to NDIS!!!
I really miss being able to exercise, socialize and
live a life of freedom of health!
My greatest triumph so far not giving up.
Learning to give myself grace and not sweating
the small stuff.

Having Gratitude with finding the glimmers and
continuing to keep positive. I fake being well a
lot!
People with MG are warriors! It's not called the
snowflake disease for nothing!
We are all very unique with how MG affects us.
We should be treated as individuals not
clustered! You have to fight and fight hard for
our government systems for access!
We fight our bodies daily; we fight battles in our
mind to keep going! We will keep going no
matter that this disease is a life sentence.
