I have ocular MG which only effects my eyes. I was diagnosed after 5 months of symptoms. My greatest challenge was dealing with five months effectively without sight and then coping with knock-on effects of the condition and treatment. One of the best things has been making contact with the Myasthenia Gravis Association of Queensland, and then normalising the experience to the point that it’s just part of my life. I’d like people to know that the two single most important things you can do: surround yourself with a support group, and treat MG as a problem to be solved, not a life sentence.
