Annette Harrison – Perth WA

by Chloe Wigg 2025, acrylic, resin, acetate and ink on wood 30.5cm x 30.5cm x 5cm

I was diagnosed at the age of 62 after 6 weeks of symptoms. The hardest part for me was believing doctors that said 'you will get better' and MG is not a disability. It has changed my life in so many ways - and I miss my 'old' life. This disease is absolutely a disability. It has taken a long time for me to realise this fully, and I will not get better, this is it and I have to live with this forever. One thing I celebrate is despite MG I was able to go on an overseas trip to England and Ireland last year. I visited amazing places in UK (Le Manoir, Raymond Blanc's french restaurant in Oxford) and going to Dublin was amazing. I loved spending the day visiting amazing little bars and eateries and tasting Guinness straight from the Guinness factory. If I could tell the world one thing about MG is that IT IS A DISABILITY!! Its invisible (for me anyway) but it’s still there. It is frustrating to have to explain to people constantly why you are feeling weak and tired, brain is mush and able to forget soooo many things!!
