Artist Statement​

Chloe is a multidisciplinary visual artist whose work sits at the intersection of Art, Community and Advocacy. Working from South East Queensland, Chloe draws on her lived experience of disability to create interactive and immersive exhibitions and community activations, fostering connection, resilience and a sense of belonging for audiences of all abilities.

As a fluid impressionist, Chloe Wigg creates intricate, evocative paintings from layers of poured acrylic paint. Expressive and playful, her art is an immersive celebration of life, colour and the joy that can be found in the little things.  They challenge audiences to see beauty in the bigger picture and find solace in the details.

Plain English Artist Statement

I love painting. It helps me make the world a more colourful place. My work is made by pouring paint out of cups to make something pretty. I like painting the sky because I cant see it when I am in hospital, so it makes me feel happy when I look at it. I like painting rocks because it reminds me how strong I am. When I am feeling really bad, colourful art makes me feel better, so I make colourful art to help other people feel better too.

I love working with people. I found it really hard to continue being an artist when my body started changing. It took me a long time to learn how to make art again. Now I love helping others who have different abilities, create art that makes them happy.

 

I like to speak about resilience, accessibility, inclusion, art and having a creative practice for wellbeing.
