When I was very small we lived on a farm in western NSW. I have very fond memories from those days. Mum breaking in horses and us kids swimming in the grain feeder (soooo unsafe but heaps of fun). What I don't remember in my parents having to buy hay, grain and water. I don't remember the drought... but i remember when we has to leave. The rains never came, the crops couldn't grow. there was no food for the animals... or for us. This painting is in homage to farmers. It's a hard life, at the mercy of the weather and the market. I wanted to celebrate the good times. a farm in full bloom, after the rains. When there is hope and joy and anything is possible. This painting is the view from a dairy farm in Kerry Valley South East Queensland.
